Treibball is the dog sport for owners who want to work actively with their dogs. The sport combines fun, physical exercise and mental challenge. Perfect for dogs with lots of energy and for owners who like to try something new!
What is Treibball?
Treibball (also called floating ball sport) comes from Germany and was developed by trainer Jan Nijboer. The dog must push large inflatable balls into a goal, at the direction of its owner. It is a bit like soccer, but with cooperation instead of competition.
How does it work?
There are eight large balls in a triangular formation on a field. The dog pushes them toward the goal one at a time while you give directions such as "push," "left," or "stop." It's all about focus, patience and teamwork.
Important aspects of Treibball
- Collaboration: owner and dog must trust and understand each other.
- Mental stimulation: your dog learns to think and respond to subtle commands.
- Rest & concentration: Even energetic dogs learn to work quietly.

Why try treibball?
- Strengthens the bond: cooperation creates greater trust.
- Keeps your dog healthy: It combines fitness with thinking.
- Accessible: little equipment needed - just some space and balls.
- For all dogs: big or small, young or old - everyone can participate!
How do you get started with Treibball?
- Attend a workshop or local dog school Who offers Treibball.
- Buy a set of large exercise balls (such as fitness balls).
- Start with basic commands such as "sit," "stay," and "push.
- Practice briefly but regularly, and reward any progress.
