Dogs sleep an average of 12-14 hours a day; puppies and seniors as much as 18 hours. A comfortable place to sleep helps process stimuli and rest well. With these five tips, create a resting place where your dog truly feels safe.
1. Choose a quiet, safe place
Depending on the character, a dog prefers to sleep in the living room with the family or in private. Avoid drafts and extreme temperatures; provide a place where your dog can lie undisturbed.
2. The right type of sleeping place
Basket, crate, pillow or rug-each has advantages. A crate can be a safe den for puppies (make it dark with a rug). A basket with a rim provides support and less draft; a pillow is fine for sprawling.

3. Practical materials
Choose washable covers, water-repellent fabrics or extra sturdy material for chewers. In heat, a cooling basket can help.
4. Customized format
Larger dogs (± >35 kg) often need at least ~90 cm of lying space; smaller is allowed for small breeds. If in doubt, seek advice from a pet store.

5. Observe true preference
Does your dog still prefer to lie on the floor or in your bed? Observe and adjust: put a blanket on his favorite spot or choose another type of bed that suits his behavior.

That way your dog will have a sleeping place that really suits him. Do you have long days and still want to keep his routine quiet? Consider a dog sitter at home For fixed moments of rest.
