From marines to dog lover

After his functional age retirement from the Marine Corps, Domien decided to devote his energy and experience to dogs.
"I was a sports instructor in the Marines, so sports are part of me. In addition, I play music. And because I can't have my own dog now,
is Petbnb
for me the perfect alternative," he says.

His love for dogs

Domien once had a Tervueren shepherd named Fugazi. That experience made a deep impression: "All dogs are nice, right
the difference is what makes it so fascinating." His natural charisma makes dogs quickly feel at ease.
"It hasn't happened yet that I didn't have a match. Dogs feel immediately that they can trust me."

A special experience

"A stray dog from Sarajevo was so attached to me within 24 hours that I could take her anywhere without a leash.
She even got upset when I went to run errands. I didn't know a dog could bond so quickly."

What he learned from babysitting

"You learn every day, they are like people. If you're not learning anything, I don't think you're open to these animals."
Domien enjoys the contact and stresses that playing and talking with dogs is essential: "Even a dog notices when you're busy
with your smartphone. Leave those in your pocket and give them attention - it strengthens your bond tremendously."

Favorite exhaust spot

"A big field where I can play with the dog," he says without hesitation. "That's where you build a real bond."

Domien's tips for other babysitters

"Don't force a match. If it doesn't click, another dog will come your way. Talk to dogs a lot, play regularly and
Be really present during the walk. That makes all the difference."

What else he would like to give Petbnb

"Add to the questionnaire whether a dog barks a lot - this is useful for sitters who live in an apartment and need to take into account
keep with neighbors," he suggests. A practical tip from an experienced babysitter who knows what he's talking about.

In conclusion

Domien is living proof that discipline, caring and love of animals can go hand in hand.
