5 reasons to bring your dog to work

Health and happiness are important factors at work. Unfortunately, this is not always the case and many employees still end up sitting at home with burnout and stress complaints. About 1 in 6 Dutch people will experience burnout in their lifetime. However, there are factors that ensure that stress complaints develop less quickly. Dogs are a very good factor in reducing stress. We would like to explain to you why taking your dog to work is a good idea.

1. A dog creates feelings of happiness

When you hug or touch a dog, a cuddle hormone is released. This cuddle hormone is also called oxytocin. The hormone is responsible for creating a bond between persons, people or animals. It is also called the hormone produced in a mother after the birth of a child so that the mother can take good care of the baby.

2. Dogs reduce stress

When dogs and humans touch each other, cortisol levels and blood pressure decrease. The cortisol level is also known as the stress hormone and is responsible for the level of stress in your body. So dogs lower cortisol levels and they are also a positive distraction. It ensures that your mind is not constantly focused on your work, but also for a moment on that fluffy four-legged friend. And there's nothing nicer than that, right?

3. Dogs provide exercise and creativity

Movement raises creativity. A walk with the dog can restore your clarity of thought and make it easier to solve problems. During the break, go with your colleagues to a park or place where you have space to let your thoughts flow. You will see that this has a positive effect on your work performance.

4. Dogs create a friendly atmosphere

A dog in the office creates a more relaxed and playful atmosphere. As a result, people loosen up and even make contact more easily. Bring your dog toy to the office and let colleagues play with your four-legged friend for a while and you will see that even the grumpiest colleague becomes a little more sociable!

5. Cozy for the dog

This reason should not be forgotten, of course! By taking your dog with you to the office, you ensure that he is not sitting at home alone, which is nice for him. It is also much healthier for dogs with separation anxiety, because a dog experiences less stress when you are around. So take him to the office and enjoy your work day to the fullest.
