Dogs love to be outside, but sometimes you can't get out the door for a long walk - for example, if you're sick, working from home or quarantined. Fortunately, you can give your dog plenty of challenges indoors, too. These 6 tips will keep your dog active, happy and content!<\/p>\n

1. Train your dog's brain<\/h2>\n

Mental stimulation is just as important as physical movement. For example, play a mind game with cups and a treat underneath. Let your dog watch as you hide the treats, mix up the cups and encourage him to search. It reinforces his concentration as well as your cooperation.<\/p>\n

2. Teach your dog to help in the household<\/h2>\n

Make staying inside a learning period! Teach your dog small tasks, such as bringing slippers, closing closet doors or picking up the newspaper. That way you give him a purpose and he stays mentally sharp.<\/p>\n

3. Play hide-and-seek<\/h2>\n

Hide-and-seek is fun, easy and provides exercise. Have your dog \"stay\" seated, hide yourself or a toy, and then call him. This way you practice obedience as well as strengthen the bond between you.<\/p>\n

4. Spend time grooming<\/h2>\n

Use the time at home to take extra care of your dog. Brush his coat, check his ears and wash him with a mild dog shampoo if necessary. Grooming is not only good for his health, but also a soothing moment together.<\/p>\n

5. Blow bubbles<\/h2>\n

A simple but hilarious activity: bubble blowing! Many dogs love to run after bubbles. Perfect if you can't move much yourself - and it provides endless entertainment.<\/p>\n

6. Invite a dog friend over<\/h2>\n

A playmate is the best distraction. Dogs can challenge each other mentally and physically while you sit quietly. Make sure both dogs know each other well and are comfortable with each other.<\/p>\n
