Below, they share their four best tips for reducing separation anxiety.<\/p>\n

What is separation anxiety in dogs?<\/h2>\n

Dogs are pack animals by nature and find it difficult when their regular person suddenly disappears. Separation anxiety can manifest itself in squealing, whining, barking or even scrapping behavior. Fortunately, it is often temporary: with proper preparation and a gentle transition, your dog will soon feel safe again.<\/p>\n

Tip 1: Walk a small lap together first<\/h3>\n

After the owner's departure, a dog is sometimes confused: why doesn't he join us? Immediately take a short walk in the neighborhood, so that he comes home to the sitter afterwards. This way he will understand faster that this is temporarily his new place, and that the owner is not just waiting behind the door.<\/p>\n

Tip 2: Distract the dog at parting time<\/h3>\n

A dog unerringly senses tension. By distracting him when his owner leaves with a game or some tricks, you won't give room for stress. Reward positive behavior with treats and then let him explore the house at his leisure. The more relaxed you are, the faster he will feel safe.<\/p>\n
