5 tips to make Christmas extra festive with your four-legged friend!

It's that time again! Christmas is almost here and that means celebration. Although this doesn't necessarily feel that way for your dog. Because of all the hustle and bustle, dogs can quickly become overexcited. We would like to give you some tips to spend Christmas relaxed and fun together with your dog by your side!

  1. Safety first!

Christmas can be quite hectic and all the changes in the house, such as a Christmas tree, Christmas lights and candles can make a dog overexcited. Also, if a lot of people come over during Christmas, this can be stressful for him. Therefore, pay attention to whether your dog is not showing signs of nervousness or anxiety. If this is the case, then it is time to slow down, or let your dog relax in a more chill place. Also, keep your dog away from the Christmas tree, mistletoe or other Christmassy plants. Many of these are harmful to pets and can even be deadly if ingested. Always contact your veterinarian if your dog has swallowed something or if you have any doubts about it!

2. Christmas cookies for your dog

Christmas is, of course, a time of good food. After all, without cookies and chocolate, it's pretty frugal, right? Beware, because dogs are absolutely not allowed chocolate! Before you know it, your dog will eat all the chocolate! If this happens, contact your vet immediately. Alternatively, you can make special Christmas cookies for dogs, or if you have a little less time, there are plenty of dog cookies available at the supermarket or your local pet store.

3. Go to a dog playground

A dog play area is sure to please your (babysitting) dog. A happy dog is a happy owner! Take your dog out at times when not all the neighborhood can be found in the dog playground. It has to stay coronaproof, of course!

4. A gift for your dog

What dog isn't happy with a new collar, dog basket, fancy dog food or a new toy? Your dog also deserves to be pampered once in a while, so let him enjoy the gifts. Make it extra cozy and put the present under the tree.

5. Take a Christmas walk

Perfect for getting rid of all those Christmas pounds and great for your dog too! Also a very good excuse for when you are tired of visitors. Go to the woods or to a park to relax with your dog. If you do not have a dog yourself, you can of course take your dog for a walk on Petbnb!
